About this deal

The display might make some noise on the right side. I am not quite sure what causes this because it doesn't occur all the time. It sounds similar to the fizz of a soda drink.

Samsung CRG90 firmware update fix, No valid update files

In other screen modes the Asus’s contrast level dropped down to a more conventional 1500:1, though, while the Samsung maintained its levels across more of its screen modes. There are three customisable gaming modes and this smaller menu shows which key settings are selected No built-in KVM support. You can use a separate KVM switch or software KVM solutions like Barrier, ShareMouse or Synergy for this. The display comes with a VESA 100x100 adapter for mounting it on a monitor arm. You will need a heavy duty one due to the screen's weight and size.

HDR needs to be turned on in Windows display settings, some games may be able to turn it on without the Windows option. Another alternative is to use display presets where one is set to 100 Hz without Freesync enabled. Going from Freesync to non-Freesync preset seems to turn HDR on. Third alternative is to use HDRSwitch app which will turn on HDR as long the app is running. Game HUD may go to the very edges of the screen. Makes for immersive visuals but difficult to read health etc displays. On some games like Witcher 3 it stays in the center as if the game was running at a 16:9 resolution. Can be turned on/off in the menu or per preset. Standard Engine = 70-120 Hz Freesync range, Ultimate Engine = 48-120 Hz Freesync range.

However, the density level still isn’t able to match 4K screens – a 32-inch 4K panel sits up at 138ppi, and even 40-inch 4K panels serve up 110ppi. 4K screens also have more vertical pixels, and extra vertical space will be more beneficial in some situations. The Samsung’s contrast and colour results remained consistent with the brightness toned down to a more usable 150 nits and with it ramped up to its peak level of 535 nits. Samsung’s panel maxed out the sRGB colour gamut, so there are no colour issues with games. It covered 89.5% and 82.8% of the DCI-P3 and Adobe RGB gamuts, too. The former figure is fine for HDR and only half a percent behind what DisplayHDR 1000 demands, but the latter is a little low and precludes this screen from the most demanding colour work.

Plan Benefits

When running games at 3840x1080 for performance reasons I recommend using a sharpen filter (e.g. Nvidia Freestyle sharpen or AMD Radeon Image Sharpening) or the display sharpness control to make it less blurry.

The stand can be a little bit wobbly and this can sometimes be noticeable when typing on a keyboard. It has tremendous screen quality, with superb colours, great contrast and an HDR implementation that actually works. The punchy, vibrant images are joined by AMD FreeSync and solid physical design that delivers good adjustment and an effective OSD. Compiled some info from various threads and my own experiences because this display gets a fair amount of questions here. The vast Samsung CRG90 works wonders in racing games thanks to the extra immersion and wider field of view The Samsung CRG90 is a stunning screen with few flaws, but it’s expensive and not suitable for everyone. Max refresh rate is 100 Hz. Goes down to 60 Hz if one of the computers doesn't support 100 Hz refresh rate.
