Having liked the idea of their father playing Sid in the Ice Age films, both of Leguizamo's children have had a number of cameos in both the third and fourth films as various animal characters. Usually when people think of sloths they are envisioning the three toed sloth with the classic mask on the eyes and flat face. This realistic and fluffy sloth design is modeled after the Hoffmann’s Two-Toed Sloth (named after the German naturalist Karl Hoffmann).
