It may not be particularly complex (although it is more complex than you first think, so give it a chance) but even the simple Penhaligon's just ooze elegance and class.The lemon is prevalant at first but it quickly balances out with the pine/pepper creating a very nice spicy fresh smell. On my skin Blenheim Bouquet smells like ginger flower, which quickly transitions to a leathery middle note, then eventually dries down to a clean soap-like bottom note. This year, I thought of how beautiful the morning was, and marveled at how that September would be the very last one like it: The beauty of innocence and the thrill and promise of early Fall in New York City, where everything was possible. This might not be for +20 or (wannabe) young +30 people but it is class and will definitely make a statement. Well-groomed and well-heeled sensibilities are so out of place in this age of sweatpants as fashion statements and wearing white trainers after Labor Day. Unfortunately its smell is too similar to a toilet freshener (I even used it for that purpose a couple of times. There's not much more here than sherbet-y lemons, incense and a bit of musk and pine, but it's so nice! My only criticism is that the combination of top notes give this a cleaning product type of vibe and I'm not one who usually says that about overly lemony or lavender fragrances because it's too easy to go there.I have since finished the bottle and am now contemplating on replacing it as this has very much grown on me. I do apologise if this is a useless review, since clearly its 'just not for me' and a high quality fragrance. Let it dry down just a little and you will find that it loses that chemical-like lemon feeling and really starts smelling like fresh lemon. Again, it resembles an eau de cologne in the ways of performance and will only give you a few hours of enjoyment before fading away completely.
