We met Sergei at Leeside Skate Park in Vancouver to talk about thriving through creative expression and his new focus on love. She herself has experienced comfort from art and craft, delving into quilting and many stitch techniques herself within her own artistic practice. From teaching us how to see in linear perspective, to letting everybody know who is in power, the jobs of Art (with a capital A) are many and diverse. In addition, the art therapy session was the first time that some participants had a chance to process the psychological and existential challenges of dealing with cancer. While a woman was paying for my painting she told me that she wanted to hang it on the wall across from her bed since she had breast cancer and wanted to wake up to my pink peonies every morning to start her day.
